Iğdır University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Musicology continues its academic studies with 3 faculty members, 2 lecturers, 1 research assistant in Şehit Bülent Yurtseven Campus. Preparations for education programs and department requirements have been completed.

The Department of Musicology aims to train Music Science Specialists that our country needs. It provides the teaching of the methods and techniques necessary for the study of music as an artistic and cultural phenomenon and cultural accumulation on the subject. Our department, which provides 4 years of Turkish education after the Special Talent Exams with its unique content, has various courses organized within the framework of the Bologna Curriculum and distributed over a 4-year period. For graduation, the total ECTS of all compulsory and elective courses must be at least 240.

​Graduates of the Department of Musicology undergraduate program become musicologists. They specialize in areas such as music writing in print and visual media, music criticism, program production, music-related assignments in units affiliated to local governments or ministries of culture, art consultancy in public and private institutions, music education, folklore and ethnomusicology research. In addition, those who study in the field of Music Sciences will be able to work in the fields where sound is processed industrially such as Music Producer, Sound Designer, Arranger, Studio Musician, etc. by developing their expertise in line with their special interests and orientations; Sociology of Music, Philosophy of Music, Cultural Musicology, Archaeomusicology, etc. They will have the opportunity to work as an academic by rising intellectually in the fields.
